2. What is the maximum number of guests that can stay at Villa PermaVista?
The house has a king size bed in the master bedroom and two single beds in the second bedroom (which can also be set up as a king size bed). The house also has two bathrooms (each with a shower, one with a small bathtub). The ideal occupancy is therefore 4 people.
3. Is Villa PermaVista suitable for families with children?
The house is very suitable for families. The second bedroom can easily be used as a children's room (with two single beds). For smaller children, there are bed rails and high chairs with an integrated table. We have also provided a large selection of board and social games for different age groups that are just waiting to be played with the family. An important note: the pool is not fenced. We therefore recommend that you bring swimming aids for non-swimmers for safety reasons.
4. Is the property pet-friendly?
We are a pet-friendly finca. However, no animals are allowed in the house itself. We ask for your understanding here – out of consideration for potential guests who, for example, are allergic and could experience health issues. This also means that the wild cats on the property should not be allowed into the house.
5. What makes Villa PermaVista environmentally friendly?
The villa is located on a permaculture finca. The finca is currently under construction and is part of a development program by the online portal “PermaGuide.com”. The goal is to develop a permaculture finca with a size of approximately 20,000 m² (Here you can find more about permaculture in general: www.permaguide.com
In concrete terms, this means that we reuse the greywater on the finca. The water treatment using a solar system works (backup with electric boiler) and the future complete power supply should be covered by solar incl. Storage (implementation at the end of 2025). The pool is also heated by solar radiation using heat conduction. In addition, we provide you with eco-tabs for the dishwasher, an eco-detergent for the washing machine and eco-soap for the soap dispensers in the bathrooms.
6. How can I book Villa PermaVista?
You can book the villa directly through the website here (if you have any problems with the booking, please feel free to contact us directly using the contact form). Otherwise, we are represented on all relevant booking portals: AirBnB, Booking.com, Fewo-direkt.de and all other portals of the VRBO group. Have you been our guest before? Yes, the deposit is €500. At check-in, there is a checklist to ensure 100% transparency about when a deposit might be incurred.
10. What are the check-in and check-out times?
Generally, you can check in until 3 p.m. every day. On the day of departure, you should check out by 11 a.m. Please contact us directly if you need an exception. You will be given access to the house via a code for a key box where the most important keys for the house are stored.
11. How do I get to the property on arrival?
To the right of the entrance to the house is a key box that you can open with a code. You will receive the code from us a few days before arrival.
Here you will find the coordinates on Google Maps:

Google Maps works wonderfully on La Palma and often offers alternative routes. Alternative routes sometimes make sense, even though they probably take longer because the shortest route is often also the steepest route. (La Palma is the steepest island in the world.) For experienced drivers, the steep or narrow sections on the side roads are no problem. In any case: tranquilo
12. Is an early check-in or a late check-out possible?
In exceptional cases – of course. But please let us know in advance.
13. Does Villa PermaVista have Wi-Fi?
The villa has a router with high-speed internet. The download rates are around 10-20 Mbit, the upload around 5-15 Mbit. Wi-Fi is included free of charge when you book the villa. You will receive the access data upon arrival.
14. Is there a swimming pool and is it heated?
We have a heated infinity pool with a massage waterfall and lighting for the night. Important note: The pool is not fenced. We therefore recommend that you bring swimming aids for non-swimmers for safety reasons.
15. What kitchen equipment is available?
The villa has a fully equipped kitchenette with a fridge, freezer, dishwasher, large sink, stove, oven, microwave and coffee machine. It leaves nothing to be desired. For us as a family, it was always important to have a freezer, which is why we have provided one in the villa. Besides, nobody should spend their vacation doing the dishes. The large dishwasher makes your stay considerably easier. And the coffee machine conjures up a delicious coffee or cappuccino for sunrise on the terrace. What could be better?
16. Are towels and bed linen provided?
Yes, we provide both towels and bed linen and also change everything before your stay. We also provide eco-tabs for the dishwasher, an eco-detergent for the washing machine and eco-soap for the soap dispensers in the bathrooms. We also have sleeping mats if you want to do yoga or meditate. You can use our beach mats for the beach.
17. Does Villa PermaVista have air conditioning?
We have air conditioning in the living room and in both bedrooms. The air conditioners are powered by electricity. Therefore, please always pay a little attention to whether the air conditioner really needs to be running. As part of the permaculture project, we will convert the entire finca to solar power with storage by the end of the year. Until then, we will continue to use the “electricity from the socket” as usual, which unfortunately is still produced in Santa Cruz in a very environmentally harmful way (oil-fired power plant).
18. Is there parking on site?
Your parking space is right next to the house. You can decide whether you want it inside the fenced area of the villa or outside on the grounds of the finca. In either case, the car is on private property.
19. What kind of view can I expect from Villa PermaVista?
Incredible! On one side, we have a 180-degree view of the sea. The daily sunsets are fantastic and a little different every day. On the other side, there is a wonderful view of the mountains. This is a great motif, especially in the morning when the sun rises.
20. Is the property wheelchair accessible or suitable for seniors?
Yes, the property and the house are designed so that everything is on one level. The pool is accessed via a wide stone staircase. The seating area in the pool is ideal for older people who want to relax and enjoy the view.
21. Can I watch the sunset or sunrise from the terrace?
The sunrise over the mountains and the sunset on the horizon, when the sun sinks into the sea and the sky turns red, orange, yellow, blue, green – that is something special every day. It's best to enjoy these moments every day, because at home you usually have neither the wide view nor the time for it. You will love it.
22. What wildlife or birds can I see on the property?
The property and surrounding area is home to feral house cats. These cats will approach people during the day and are tame, but we ask that you do not feed them or let them into the house. During the day, you can often see lizards in the stone walls and in the evening a gecko might sneak into the house. But that's okay. Geckos are beautiful to look at and eat flies and mosquitoes, so they are our friends. Otherwise, you can see hares and wild pheasants running across the property at dusk. Even real canaries feel very comfortable with us, as do the island's famous ravens and small falcons. At night, with a little luck, you can see bats flying, otherwise it's best to enjoy the silence with a small cricket concert. There are no poisonous spiders, scorpions or snakes on La Palma. However, there is a millipede species (more information) that you should avoid.
23. Are there any native fruits or herbs on the property?
Our finca is still under construction. Therefore, we cannot yet provide you with your own food. However, you can buy wonderful local fruit and vegetables at the farmers' markets or in the local organic shops, which have ripened naturally under the sun. The selection is huge. You will find avocados, potatoes, bananas, tangerines and oranges, as well as apples and almonds. Nisperos, figs, guavas and papayas are also delicious. You should make sure that the bananas you buy are organically grown. Conventional bananas on the island are heavily treated with pesticides and fungicides.
24. Is there a barbecue and can I use it during my stay?
Yes, there is a barbecue in the pool area. Use it and enjoy your stay. But always remember that you have to handle fire responsibly everywhere on the island. (Forest) fires are one of the biggest dangers in our region. Unfortunately, fires occur again and again because people handle fire or cigarettes carelessly.
25. Are there books, games or entertainment options?
We have lots of board and family games for the whole family. Of course, you also have the option of watching movies and series in the living room via your streaming services. You just have to log in to your streaming service (Prime Video, Netflix, Disney, etc.). And don't worry if you forget to log out when you leave, we'll do it for you.
We have a special idea for the books. We have already created a basic collection, but we are happy for our library to grow with you. Did you take a special book with you to La Palma and finish reading it? Feel free to leave it here on the island. You are welcome to write about what you liked so much about the book and thus give the following guests a treat. The books can be entertaining, but also inspiring.
26. What makes the private heated pool unique?
The pool is an infinity pool with an endless view of the sea. You can comfortably enter via steps (no ladder) and also make yourself comfortable on the bench in the pool or relax under the pool waterfall. The pool area is directly adjacent to the terrace of the house and also has a barbecue area with privacy and sun protection.
27. Are there outdoor seating or dining areas?
The house has three large terraces and an additional barbecue area by the pool. Each bedroom has its own terrace and is equipped with furniture. The living room opens onto a large covered terrace leading to the adjacent pool. The terraces are perfect for breakfast, reading or enjoying the sunset. All terraces are equipped with lamps that can be controlled individually.
28. Are there solar panels or other environmentally friendly facilities?
Hot water is already heated with solar collectors. In the second half of the year, the entire finca will be converted to solar power, including storage.
29. What kind of lighting creates atmosphere in the evening?
The stone walls are equipped with background lighting that can be switched on and off using light switches. It is wonderful to sit on the terrace in the evening and enjoy a glass of local wine. If you need more light, for example because you want to play a game of rummy outside, you can also switch on the outdoor lighting. This can be individually controlled using a remote control.
30. Does the Villa PermaVista have a garden and can guests pick fresh produce?
The house has its own fruit trees, but they are only just beginning to grow. It is not yet possible to harvest here. Other parts of the finca are further developed, but we do not expect to be able to supply our guests with our own fruit and vegetables until after the next project phase in 2026.
31. What are the best hiking trails or activities nearby?
Here is our personal top 10 list (regardless of distance). But of course, the list is only a fraction of what you can do on La Palma. In general, we recommend that you download and use the two apps Tripadvisor and GetYourGuide. They are both free and the user reviews will help you find good deals. Whether you are looking for restaurants, attractions, hiking trails or guided tours.
Personal top 10 list:
32. How far is it to the nearest beach and how do I get there?
Playa Tazacorte is a 20-minute drive away. The beach is well developed and has a beach promenade, restaurants and further shopping opportunities. The beach in Puerto Naos is similarly developed. The beach promenade here was extensively renovated a few years ago and everything is very nicely laid out. However, the town itself is still closed in some places due to the volcanic eruption. However, this does not detract from a visit to the beach and some restaurants have also reopened. (If you can't find anything to eat here, you should drive a little further to El Remo after visiting the beach. The restaurant Kiosko serves fantastic fish dishes here). The third option for visiting a beach near Tijarafe is Playa La Veta. However, you have to plan for a very steep ascent (via Tijarafe) and a short hike before you can enjoy the very beautiful natural beach. Apart from a few isolated small huts, there is no further infrastructure here. But it is still one of the most beautiful beaches on the island.
33. Are there local markets or shops where I can buy fresh produce?
We often do our bulk shopping at Lidl in Tazacorte. But for your basic needs or if you want to get fresh bread in the morning, there is also the Spar in Tijarafe or the Cooperativa in La Punta nearby. We always buy fruit and vegetables at the small organic store “Vidasana” in Tijarafe or we visit one of the regional farmers' markets - for example in Puntagorda at the weekend (best on Saturdays from 3-7 pm or alternatively on Sundays from 11-3 pm).
34. What local dishes or wines do you recommend trying?
Definitely try a “Barraquito” (contains alcohol) after dinner or with dessert. Or one of the regional wines with dinner. These are usually heavy red wines (“Tinto”). We can recommend the red wine “Tendal - Tinto Selection” (available at the Cooperativa in La Punta). The nearby Cervezeria “Isla Verde” also offers a wide selection of craft beers. But you can also refresh yourself with a good “Tropical”, which is popular with the locals.
35. What is the mobile phone and internet connection like at Villa PermaVista?
The finca is located outside of larger towns in a secluded location, bordered only by a ravine (baranco) to the left and right. The quality of the mobile network depends heavily on the provider. As our guests, you have free and unlimited access to our high-speed Wi-Fi.
36. Are there washing facilities on site?
There is a laundry room in the house itself with a modern washing machine (we provide the ecological detergent) that you are welcome to use. With the help of the drying racks, the laundry dries outside in a few hours.
37. Can I bring my own food or is there a delivery service?
We are not aware of any delivery services. We often do our bulk shopping at the Lidl in Tazacorte. For your basic needs or if you want to get fresh bread in the morning, there is also the option of shopping at the Spar in Tijarafe or at the Cooperativa in La Punta, which are both nearby. We always buy fruit and vegetables at the small organic store “Vidasana” in Tijarafe or we visit one of the regional farmers' markets - for example in Puntagorda at the weekend (best on Saturdays from 3-7 p.m. or alternatively on Sundays from 11-3 p.m.).
38. What should I pack for a stay at Villa PermaVista / on La Palma?
Towels and bed linen are provided in the house. You also have your own washing machine. Otherwise, we always advise:
39. Is there any information or a guest book at the house?
Our guest book is a special feature. We ask you to note tips and recommendations for subsequent guests here. No novels, but feel free to report whether there are certain restaurants, excursion destinations or markets that other guests should also visit. Otherwise, various brochures about excursion destinations are available in German, English and Spanish in the holiday home. And don't forget the recommended apps. ;-)
We have heard many positive things about the car rental company “Cicar”, and Montarent is also often recommended. Otherwise, you also have a large selection of rental cars via the comparison platform “www.billigermietwagen.de”. We recommend a medium-sized car with a good engine, as some of the roads can be narrow and steep. Petrol prices are about 30-40 cents per liter below the German price level. In some cases, prices are subsidized by the state – the discount is then automatically deducted at the time of payment. Another tip: it's best to always choose fully comprehensive and theft insurance with no excess, and to include tire and glass protection as well as underbody protection. This will save you a lot of hassle.
41. Are there public buses and how reliable are they?
Yes, there are bus connections. However, not within walking distance to our finca. The transportation on the respective main lines, which connect the communities via the LP roads, works perfectly. However, if you want to move around individually and in rural areas (for hiking tours, to restaurants, etc.), renting a car is recommended.
42. Is there a train system on La Palma?
On La Palma there is no train, no metro and no suburban railway. Incidentally, there are no highways either – so you can relax while driving.
43. How far is the Villa PermaVista from the nearest airport?
You should plan at least 60 minutes for the pure driving time from the airport to the Casa (and vice versa) (on the day of departure better 75-90 minutes, in case you are stuck behind a banana truck).
44. Is there parking for rental cars?
Yes, you can park your car directly at the house. There is an additional locked area or a carport right next to it. Both parking options are located on our finca, which is privately owned.
45. Can I drink the tap water in the Villa PermaVista?
The house is connected to the drinking water supply (city water). As in Germany, the Spanish authorities regularly check the water quality. However, on some days more chlorine is added. You can taste that. We have therefore installed a water filter. At the sink, you can use a manual switch to decide whether you want to run the city water directly or through the filter. We always recommend using the filter (also for boiling water or cooking). However, it may only be operated with cold water.
46. Is bottled water recommended or provided?
Pre-portioned water is widely available on the island. If you use our water filter, you can drink the city water (without the taste of chlorine) without any problems and fill it into your bottles at no extra cost.
47. What is the weather like on La Palma usually?
La Palma is also called the island of eternal spring. Even in the fall and winter months, the temperatures at the finca are regularly above 18/20 degrees. At night, the temperatures rarely fall below 14/15 degrees. Even during this time, you can swim in the Atlantic Ocean and on sunny beach days, the temperatures sometimes reach up to 25 degrees and more. In spring, the temperatures continue to rise and rise slightly in the summer months. In the summer months, the temperatures at the finca range between 22 and 28 degrees. The hours of sunshine are around 10 to 12 hours throughout the year. In winter, there are only a few rainy days – maybe 3 to 5 days a month. In summer, you sometimes wait “in vain” for rain. It is not uncommon for it not to rain at all during the whole summer. There are also two rules of thumb: 1. The east of the island is generally more humid and therefore greener than the sunny west. 2. For every 100 meters of altitude, the temperature drops by 1 degree. For example, if it is 22 degrees on the beach at Tazacorte, it may be 18 to 20 degrees in Tijarafe.
48. Are there many rainy days and how should I prepare for them?
It rarely rains at the finca in summer. In the fall and winter months, you can expect about 3–5 rainy days per month. There is a saying on the island: “The sun is always shining somewhere.” So on a rather rainy day, you could relax as usual in the house and enjoy the view or take a tour and drive to another region of the island. Various webcams will help you find the right place in the sun.
49. Is transportation organized if I don't have a car?
Unfortunately, we cannot organize transportation for you. However, if you decide not to rent a car, you can take a taxi at the airport. The ride costs about €50. In general, we recommend renting a car for the entire duration of your vacation. It's best to rent a car from the time you arrive at the airport until you leave and then drop the car off at the airport.
